I’ve been on hiatus for nearly three months and for good reasons of course. During those nearly three months of absence I’ve been to Abu Dhabi to see my family and in Estonia to celebrate Christmas with my partner’s family. So, here’s a really quick travel diary about everything so far!Anyway, hello people of the Internet! To start this post, I’d like to greet everyone a beautiful New Year and how has 2016 treating you so far? I have to be honest that mine started a bit bizarre in a not-so-good way but since then it has gone better and thanking the universe for yet another year on earth which will be filled with adventures and beautiful mishaps.
Anyway, hello people of the Internet!
I have been missing in action online for nearly two months and boy what have I missed? Seem tons in my opinion! Hiatus was a bliss and time flew by suddenly so fast that it was nearly impossible to make it slow down in order for me to catch up. If I’ll be completely honest writer’s block is a bitch and it sure does pull your legs down and brain farts are inevitable. However, I’m semi back now and since I plan to be busier this year and hoping for a far more productive year than the last so I decided to keep my blog a second priority and to drive its road slow yet steady while still keeping a good and active social media presence… just so you beautiful people won’t forget about me and as well to get updates from you all because you are all oh-so-inspiring! Life was hard last year but with all my power I’m going to make it my main priority to make this year the best one yet. Anyhow, my absence from last two months was really unintentional as I was really planning to grow my blog exceptionally before the year 2015 ends but of course, that did not happen and it sure did made an impact on me and regretted the unproductive days. You see, real life happens, as you all know. Unfortunately, we all have this thing called problems in real life and they needed to be sorted out first before anything else and now mine are all somewhat settled, I’m quite happy to be back on my usual routines.
So, what has happened in those two months that flew by faster than a blink of an eye? I was in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E for three beautiful weeks! I had the opportunity to be away from work for a whole month due to a temporary unemployment (my workplace was under-construction) and my boss gave me a green light regarding my out of the country getaway. When I saw that there was a reasonably priced (€250) Helsinki-Dubai-Helsinki flight from Norwegian.com I already knew I would go and visit U.A.E again. My sister actually lives in Abu Dhabi with her family where my partner and I could easily stay with them and that truly cut down our spending budget drastically by 75%. I personally think I wouldn’t be able to afford to stay in this luxurious city due to its high prices and expensive price tags.
I’ve read few articles from several bloggers who are mainly doing backpacking and has been avoiding U.A.E as a travel destination. I do understand their opinions about the country and their impression about its luxury, however, I still do think it is a nice destination to experience something ‘out of this world’ somehow. To solemnly think thoroughly regarding this country’s history and not even half a century ago this piece of land was just merely vast deserts by the sea and all of a sudden they are catering amazing infrastructures that are all beautifully built and world renown. I was pretty amazed I have to say! My brother-in-law has been working in the Middle East for the better part of his career and he has mentioned how things drastically move and change in this country. How all of a sudden it’s a city full of life, full of many different things catering to everyone from different culture’s needs. It is quite cool I dare say.
During my stay in Abu Dhabi I just pretty much spent my entire time with my family knowing I have not seen them for nearly a yea and despite my eagerness to keep the blog moving family comes first, therefore, I created new memories with them instead. I have been in Abu Dhabi and Dubai once before in 2013 and I pretty much visited all of its touristy parts during my first visit. On this recent visit, my sister and I did a series of serious eats around the city, visiting famous brunch places and as well ate at some of her favorite restaurants. We’re a total fatty but whatever, right? It was a well spent holiday I’ll never forget! (I was totally broke thought when I got back in Helsinki, luxury is so expensive! What the hell!?)
My partner followed me in Abu Dhabi a week later and with him we carried on to see several touristy and must-see destinations around the city. He clearly enjoyed his time over there and everything fascinated him which is really awesome because I knew from the beginning that he’ll love it there! He found the place rather expensive as well but still he felt the impact of cultural differences which kept him highly interested throughout our trip.
On 2nd of December was Abu Dhabi’s National Day so we went to see their firework display by the Corniche Beach, which is probably one of the highlights of our trip. They sure do know how to fire them fireworks! It was so gorgeous and made me wonder how beautiful they make it during New Year’s? I know in Dubai by the Burj Khalifa they present one of the world’s best firework displays during New Years. We also went on to visit some of the city’s beautiful public beaches (entrance cost about €4.00), Abu Dhabi’s Heritage Village and the Grand Mosque – a very admirable view! My partner truly enjoyed his stay in this city and so did I even on the second time.
I have to admit my fondness towards this city, Abu Dhabi, and even considered moving there for work. I was informed by some amazing people that a Chef’s job is in demand in hotels and I will lie if I say it did not make me think of applying… However, I like my life here in Helsinki and although sometimes I truly dislike the weather we are having I still cannot deny the fact how Europe can spoil you so well. We might not have all the luxury available in here but people are equal on their own rights, which I strongly believe on how systems should be. One thing I realize while visiting U.A.E is that the rich and the poor have this big ass wall dividing them and it is so evident around the place who have the money and who have less. It was something I wish will change in the future, not just in U.A.E but in other places too.
Alright! That was it for me! I really hope that you guys had a wonderful New Year and I am wishing you all a beautiful year ahead. I only have a few goals I am wishing to achieve this year and one of it is to be able to update this blog with wonderful stories to share.
The hiatus wasn’t so bad. Infact, it was only for the best. Sometimes we all need a some sort of a break and if we exhaust ourselves, it could only do harm.
YOUR THOUGHTS MATTERS
