When traveling became a pressure than pleasure
If I would be completely honest, there are times I wish I am traveling and experiencing more new things. There’re many times I encountered travelers whose stories I cannot begin to describe; I’m just simply in awe whenever I listen to their tales, and every single time I hear their travel stories there comes that little struck of jealousy which I cannot bear.
Sometimes maintaining a specific niche blog can be tough especially I know for a fact that there are loads of amazing people out there who have better stories to tell but don’t share it with the world. I feel ashamed telling people that yes, I’m in fact a travel blogger but has not been to half of the destinations they’ve been.
However, funny thing, these people who have tons of amazing stories and experiences don’t judge, not even a little bit! Because they know that traveling is not always about the destination itself but instead, the remarkable journey you had and the stories you can rekindle.
For them, traveling is a way to know the world better and not to collect stamps or count countries. For them, traveling is a way to experience life. Fascinating thought, isn’t it? These very thoughts bothered me for a while and kept on asking myself where should I take my readers to. Do I want them to come on a virtual journey with me and see the world through me or shall I invite them to a private tour of what life truly is all about and to read about a new destination as a bonus? I’m not sure what I want but one thing for sure, I want to tell everyone’s inspiring stories to everyone (if that makes any sense at all) thus I created Photojournal as a way to cater mine and everyone else creative journey to this wild world of ours.
It is funny actually because just a few days ago I was watching a video about a professor who hands a paper with a black dot in the middle of a white paper and told his students to write an essay describing the dot, this was their exam. A lot of students returned their paper describing the black dot in the middle of the white paper with flair. However, the professor asked why nobody wrote about the white space? He then gave a lesson to his students that that is exactly how a lot of us think in today’s world.
“Everyone’s just concentrating on the black dot that we forgot to realize that there’s also the whole world surrounding it.”
In other words, we are lost cases. We think too much about every single thing that we forget to live.
After watching the video, I felt a sudden hard hit. After dwelling on the pain I gave the hitter a good look in the face, and it is reality trying to get a hold of me. However, I didn’t budge so she was left with only one choice, and that is to make me realize (again) how much I have been concentrating on things that don’t matter.
Then I decided that I will keep on doing what I am already doing – take people on a virtual journey with me to this wild world of ours. By that, I meant travel destinations and all, yes, but also the journey that not only involves traveling but also life as it is.
I think I feel great with this decision. It is stressful to ponder what sort of particular niche a blog shall fall. I love writing great stories as much as hearing and reading them. Just a rough plan, a lot can change that’s for sure! This blog open for every single new idea we will come across in this pretty wild world of ours.
