Top 10 Best Things to Do in Koh Nang Yuan, Thailand
Chase Wonders at the Viewpoint

From the beach, tourists can follow a trail leading to the summit of a hill, which offers a panoramic view of the surrounding landscapes. Hiking takes 15-20 minutes, and it’s a super friendly trail for beginners.
Along the way, expect to see unusual flora and fauna species, many of which are only found on the island. Take extra caution as some parts of the trail are slippery, and there are narrow passageways to conquer. Upon reaching the summit, tourists will be rewarded with a bird’s eye view of the iconic beach, snorkeling sites, and lush forests. The viewpoint is also an ideal spot for feeling the chilly breeze and catching the sunrise view.
Stroll on the White Beach

Many travel bloggers consider the beach in Koh Nang Yuan as one of the best in Thailand. It’s a sandbar connecting the three islands. Its powdery white sands are soothing to the feet, complementing the blue azure waters with teeming marine biodiversity.
This is the most touristy part of the island, although it’s relatively peaceful in the early morning. Cottages are lining the beach, and visitors can rent one of these if they want to unwind and enjoy the fantastic views. Because of its stunning features, Koh Nang Yuan’s White Beach has been featured on international websites.

Explore the Colorful Corals
Although neighboring Koh Tao is the more popular option for snorkeling, Koh Nang Yuan is also an ideal site. Even if swimming just a few meters away from the beach, tourists can spot both hard and soft corals with bizarre diversity. The marine life here is thriving.
One can find different kinds of species, including the iconic parrotfish, giant crabs, stingrays, turtles, and many more. Thanks to local conservations, the corals here remain in generally pristine condition. These corals, therefore, are critical ecological sanctuaries for many endangered species. Snorkeling is one of the best things to do in Koh Nang Yuan.

Lounge on the Beach
Visitors can lounge on the beach if done swimming or strolling along the long stretch of the beach. But they would have to shell out at least $4 per to rent an umbrella and a lounge chair for the day. Strangely enough, the local management does not allow laying out beach towels.
There’s just nothing like it lounging while your eyes are fixed on the rustic views. It’s best to do it during the early morning and late afternoon. Try sipping a cold beverage as you do just that.

Thrill yourself on a Zipline
The only existing resort on the island offers a zipline for those with an adventurous spirit. It’s not operating every day, however, so tourists would have to negotiate with the owner.
It’s one of the ways to catch the best views of Koh Nang Yuan. From one point on the island, the zipline will take one to the other side. Expect a hefty rate, but no worries, the views of the beach, the seas, and the lush islands are too beautiful to ignore.

Jump from one of the Rocks

Big limestone boulders dot the island, and tourists can use one of these as jumping platforms towards the deep sea. Some of these rocks are just around five feet, while others reach more than 20 feet.
Tourists can choose the ideal rock height depending on their appetite for adventure and thrill. Just make sure you know how to swim and that you’ll fall into the deep part of the sea.
After jumping, one can then explore marine life and swim with the fishes. The rocks are also ideal for photoshoots. In so many ways, they resemble the landscapes of the fictional Jurassic Park.
Hold up! Have you thought about the importance of travel insurance?
Remember this: anything can happen. Travel is fun, but your health is more important; thus, I always, always, always recommend getting insured during the duration of your trip. I have benefitted from having one multiple times, and it has been covered for thousands of euros!
The latest one is not necessarily “health” related – it was during the peak of the unspeakable terrible C that consumed the world. I was living in Vietnam when I received an email from SafetyWing (my travel insurance) that if I want they’ll fly be back home to Finland as the world goes through a global emergency alert. I flew back fully covered, and dealing with SafetyWing was a breeze despite the roar of people in contact with them trying to get back home.
I can’t highly recommend them enough. Otherwise, I rarely get sick; hence I don’t always need to head to a hospital, but knowing that I have travel insurance makes me feel safe at the very least.
Read my post about why you should get travel insurance for more information. Otherwise, you can get a free quote from SafetyWing – they’re the best, in my opinion.
Experience authentic culinary specialties

With so many things to do in Koh Nang Yuan, tourists can quickly get dehydrated and hungry. Thankfully, a local restaurant serves mostly mainstream snacks and meals such as fries, ice cream, and cakes. But it also serves authentic Thai meals, including seafood, that will surely satisfy one’s belly.
Enjoy the taste of Thai beverages while relishing the beauty of the surrounding views. It is the only restaurant on the island, meals fetch higher prices. So it’s recommended bringing your food to save on budget.
Explore the Dense Forests
The biggest of the three islands in Koh Nang Yuan host dense forests that host diverse wildlife. Among these are monkeys, monitor lizards, snakes, and different bird species, some of which are only native to the island.
There are big trees that thrill-seekers can climb while holding onto vines to get rustic views of the forest. Or go chasing for colorful orchids and other unusual floral species. Huge limestone rocks dot the forests, like spirits protecting these natural ecosystems from encroachment.
Have a Soul-Relieving Moment
With Koh Nang Yuan’s explosive growth, it’s not unusual to come across crowds on the beach. For introverts or those seeking a serene escape, the island may seem like a nightmare during peak hours. But here is the thing.
There are secluded parts of the island for those seeking introspection and serenity. Just ask permission from the local management and, if possible, ask for a guide to assure safety and convenience. Introspective tourists may settle on the rocks or trees while waiting for the crowded beach to loosen. There, they can meditate or relish the beauty of nature.

So those are just some of the best things to do in Koh Nang Yuan. Consider when planning your itinerary for a fun-filled and fulfilling journey, whether you’re a solo or a group. Have fun and learn!

What are my favorite travel must-haves?
As a frequent traveler, I’ve learned a lot throughout my years of travel, and there are five items that I always carry with me regardless of where I go and how long the trip is. Here are my five travel must-haves!
- Warm packable jacket – I always carry a light jacket, even when heading to warm countries. There hasn’t been a time I never used it, especially in airports and planes.
- Transparent toiletry bag – I often bring a carry-on if I’m only traveling within Europe for a few days. Life is so much easier to go through security checks with a transparent toiletry bag.
- Kindle Paperwhite – I love a good read and always take my Kindle everywhere. It keeps me entertained during long flights and waiting times.
- Powerbank – I don’t know how I could travel without one! Having a power bank saved me a ton since I carry a lot of electronic devices with me.
- Travel Adapter – I never leave my luggage without a travel adapter! I carry one with me all the time. It is just one of that travel-must haves that doesn’t hurt to have in your bag at all times.
