Wat Poramaiyikawat is one of the oldest temples in the city, having been built 200 years ago. It features a distinct Mon architecture. It would have entirely eroded was it not for King Rama V, who ordered the temple’s renovation in 1873.

Tourists visiting the city will easily catch sight of this recognizable landmark, which is also one of Pak Kret’s most popular destinations. The temple boasts a giant statue of a reclining Buddha, the principal image in the Ubusot, and mural paintings.

It also hosts a Mon-style marble carved pagoda and a museum showcasing the temple’s rich history and the culture of the local inhabitants. Like the pilgrims, tourists can also express their devotion to asking for guidance and protection as they pursue travels.

Visit the Kwan Aman Pottery Museum

Just north of Bangkok and adjacent to Pak Kret center is Ko Kret, a small island in the Chao Phraya River. The Mon group has been settling in the area for centuries, making it an important cultural hub.

One of the prime spots here is the Kwan Aman Pottery Museum, which showcases traditional pot-making. It has been one of the major livelihoods of the locals since the community’s founding.

Therefore, a visit to the museum will lead tourists into the rich history of the Mon group and their communities. One of the iconic attractions in the museum is the terracotta, a traditional earthenware. Up to this day, some locals make these pots using traditional methods.

Pray at Wai Pat Lom

Wai Pat Lom is a favorite pilgrimage site among devout Buddhists from different provinces. The temples exterior boasts intricate designs reflective of Thai architecture with a cultural blend.

One finds two temples in front of the main entrance, like guards guarding the primary temple. Upon entering the main temple, tourists will find a beautiful maiden image of Buddha with multiple statues surrounding it.

The ceiling over the images features plastered decoration mixed with detailed paintings. Then, there is a mystic figure representing the Bodi tree. The inside walls also showcase large-scale paintings depicting the life of Buddha and the local village.

Stroll on Sri Nakarins Park

The Sri Nakarins Park is named after the mother of His Majesty King Rama IX. It remains a generally off-beaten destination amidst the crowded metropolis, making it an ideal spot for meditation and introspection.

The park covers around 41 acres and consists of tall, shady trees and lush gardens. It also has a wide pond with colorful flowers and different kinds of insects and frogs.

Hold up! Have you thought about the importance of travel insurance?

Remember this: anything can happen. Travel is fun, but your health is more important; thus, I always, always, always recommend getting insured during the duration of your trip. I have benefitted from having one multiple times, and it has been covered for thousands of euros!

The latest one is not necessarily “health” related – it was during the peak of the unspeakable terrible C that consumed the world. I was living in Vietnam when I received an email from SafetyWing (my travel insurance) that if I want they’ll fly be back home to Finland as the world goes through a global emergency alert. I flew back fully covered, and dealing with SafetyWing was a breeze despite the roar of people in contact with them trying to get back home.

I can’t highly recommend them enough. Otherwise, I rarely get sick; hence I don’t always need to head to a hospital, but knowing that I have travel insurance makes me feel safe at the very least.

Read my post about why you should get travel insurance for more information. Otherwise, you can get a free quote from SafetyWing – they’re the best, in my opinion.

Relax at Health Land Spa and Massage

Thai massage is often considered the best in the world. There are options for luxurious and modern methods and cultural massage approaches. Given Thailand‘s popularity as an escape for relaxation, nothing beats experiencing a modern-traditional massage.

One of the best places to experience that is at Health Land Spa and Massage. Experience the soothing effects of traditional herbs and reflexes. The massage center is just near some hiking destinations, so it’s a must-visit for weary travelers.

The Chao Phraya River is one of the major rivers in Thailand, emanating from towering mountains and dense forests. It is also an important route in Pak Kret, and many locals consider it vital in sustaining their livelihoods.

Tourists can ride a ferry along the river to explore its banks’ many historical and cultural landmarks. Different fish species thrive on the river, and some locals offer fishing experiences to tourists.

There are also ferries with restaurants serving authentic Thai delicacies. There’s nothing like it traversing the river while catching sight of amazing views.

9.  Shop Souvenirs at Mali Market

The Mali Market is one of the best places to buy souvenirs at Pak Kret, especially for tourists looking for locally-made products. Many stalls sell traditional weaving, wooden sculptures, and other traditional creations.

Others sell bags, shoes, and clothes at extremely low prices. The market is also ideal for those who love chasing street foods. Experience Pak Ret nightlife at the Mali Market and get a chance to mingle with the locals and experience their hospitality.

Have a Random Stroll on the Streets of Pak Kret

Although tourists can easily access the major tourist spots in Pak Kret via common transportation, they can also try doing that by foot.

It’s an excellent way to experience the locals’ life and have meaningful interactions with them. Aside from seeing historical landmarks, a stroll can also let tourists experience the famous street foods of Thailand.

Those are just some of the best things to do in Pak Kret that you should not miss. Consider them when planning your itinerary for a memorable Thailand travel experience.

What are my favorite travel must-haves?

As a frequent traveler, I’ve learned a lot throughout my years of travel, and there are five items that I always carry with me regardless of where I go and how long the trip is. Here are my five travel must-haves!

  • Warm packable jacket – I always carry a light jacket, even when heading to warm countries. There hasn’t been a time I never used it, especially in airports and planes.
  • Transparent toiletry bag – I often bring a carry-on if I’m only traveling within Europe for a few days. Life is so much easier to go through security checks with a transparent toiletry bag.
  • Kindle Paperwhite – I love a good read and always take my Kindle everywhere. It keeps me entertained during long flights and waiting times.
  • Powerbank – I don’t know how I could travel without one! Having a power bank saved me a ton since I carry a lot of electronic devices with me.
  • Travel Adapter – I never leave my luggage without a travel adapter! I carry one with me all the time. It is just one of that travel-must haves that doesn’t hurt to have in your bag at all times.
